These activities has already been supported by the construction of the most advanced testing polygon for autonomous vehicles in Central Europe, which is located in Zalaegerszeg near the Austrian and Slovenian borders and funded by Hungarian Government. Cross-border tripartite cooperation in this area is very unique, thus the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Hungary has also highlighted the important role of the three universities in Budapest, Graz and Maribor in the implementation of this new type of mobility in the region and in the whole Europe. The venue was attended by the Vice-rector Prof. dr. Niko Samec, Dr. Miran Rodič, Mladen Kraljić and Darja Kukovič.
In parallel, the University of Maribor has successfully applied the university network for Avtonomuos vehicles in the CEEPUS program (program for Central and Eastern European University Study), which marks the beginning of the implementation of the trilateral agreement between the universities BME Budapest, TU Graz and the University of Maribor.
