Prof. dr. Yu David Liu from State University New York Binghamton received a Fulbright scholarship for four months of research at the University of Maribor in the field of "green computing". At the Institute of Computer Science, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, he will participate in the design and implementation of an energy-aware programming language with self-optimization capability powered by evolutionary computation.

Prof. dr. Liu explained why he decided to come to University of Maribor: "This project is a collaboration with a team of researchers led by Prof. dr. Marjan Mernik. It builds on University of Maribor's research strengths on domain-specific languages and evolutionary computation, with a new focus on energy efficiency. Slovenia is an international leader in sustainable development. The Fulbright project aims at complementing this multidisciplinary effort with a perspective from the computing world. Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program is the flagship program of international educational and cultural exchange in the United States, with a mission of contributing to mutual understanding and finding solutions to challenges facing our communities and our world."
